Easy Fig Chutney

Serves 12 |
Great for topping brie and crackers.
|1/4 teaspoon ground allspice|
|1/2 lb light brown sugar|
|1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon|
|1/8 teaspoon ground clove|
|1/4 cup chopped fresh ginger|
|1/4 lemon, zested|
|1 1/2 teaspoons yellow mustard seeds|
|1 yellow onion, chopped|
|2 1/2 cups red wine vinegar|
|1 3/4 teaspoons salt|
|1 1/4 lb fresh figs, stems removed and halved|
- Combine the allspice, light brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, ginger, lemon zest, yellow mustard seeds, yellow onion, red wine vinegar and salt in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil on medium-high heat.
- Reduce temperature to low and cook until mixture has thickened to a syrupy consistency.
- Add figs and cook for 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Pour chutney into a container and let cool to room temperature before serving.
